How to Get to Park Güell

Park Güell is in the Gràcia district on the slopes above the city. Most visitors take metro line L3 to Lesseps or Vallcarca and walk uphill, or take a bus or taxi to one of the upper gates. Before you set off, check which entrance or meeting point your voucher names.

Start with the right entrance

The park has several gates on different sides of the hill. The main entrance on Carrer d’Olot, with its two pavilions, leads straight to the Dragon Stairway. Other gates include one on Carretera del Carmel and one reached from Passatge de Sant Josep de la Muntanya, where outdoor escalators help with part of the climb.

The gate closest to you on a map is not always the one on your voucher. Walking from one gate to another around the perimeter takes time and can involve steep streets, so check the voucher first and plan your route to that exact point. Guided tours have their own meeting points, which may be outside the park.

By metro

Line L3 (green) has two stations within walking distance: Lesseps and Vallcarca. From either station, the route climbs through residential streets, and the walk is longer and steeper than the distance suggests. From Vallcarca, some routes use outdoor escalators for part of the way.

By bus

Several city bus routes stop near the park, including stops close to the upper gates, which save most of the climb. Routes and stops change from time to time, so check the current options in the TMB journey planner (opens in a new tab) for your exact entrance.

By taxi or ride hailing

A taxi is the easiest option if walking uphill is difficult. Give the driver the name of the entrance on your voucher, not just “Park Güell”, so you are dropped at the right gate.

On foot

Walking from the centre is possible but long and uphill for the final part. If you walk, wear good shoes, carry water and leave plenty of time before your slot, especially in summer.

By car

Parking near the park is limited. Public transport or a taxi is usually simpler. If you drive, check parking options and access restrictions in advance.

Timing your arrival

Aim to reach the gate before your slot time. Entry is allowed within 30 minutes after the ticket time, but treat that as a buffer. For a guided tour, be at the meeting point about 15 minutes early, because the group starts on time.

Getting there questions

Which entrance should I use?

Use the entrance stated on your voucher or the meeting point for your tour. The park has several gates on different sides of the hill, and the one closest to you on a map is not always the right one. Check the voucher before you set off to avoid a long walk around the perimeter.

Is it a steep walk from the metro?

Yes. From the nearest metro stations the route climbs through residential streets, and part of it is steep. Some routes include outdoor escalators. If walking uphill is difficult, a bus that stops near an upper entrance or a taxi to the correct gate is often the easier choice.
