Why we do not publish a fixed timetable

Best times to visit
Our editors suggest the following, based on light, heat and crowd patterns rather than any guarantee:
- First slots of the day: cooler, calmer and good light on the terrace. Popular, so book early.
- Late afternoon: warm light for photos of the city and the mosaics, and less midday heat.
- Midday: usually the busiest and hottest time, with little shade on the main terrace.
- Rain: paths can be slippery. Check the forecast and the park’s notices if the weather turns.
Fitting the slot into your day
Reaching the park takes longer than the map suggests, because the last part of the route climbs. Leave a margin before your slot, especially for a guided tour, which starts on time.
